Xbox Summer of Arcade 2010 and Destination Arcade Releases to Coincide

July 12, 2010

From Major Nelson’s blog, he has announced that rather than have the brand-new Destination Arcade update come out this Wednesday (7/14/2010) it will be coming out next Wednesday (7/21/2011) to help kick off the Summer of Arcade event as well as the first game of the promotion: Limbo.

If you haven’t heard much about the Destination Arcade update, it is basically a revamp of the current Xbox Live Arcade store to provide more options for sorting and recommending of new games so that discovering games is easier. Here’s a condensed listing from Major Nelson about the features:

Major Nelson: “You’ll have the ability to sort by price, community rating, and more!  Also, stay up to date on the latest arcade releases through a news feed and also find out what games your friends like and recommend. [...] I’ve posted some screenshots of what it will look like if you want to take a peek. [Flickr Link]

In addition to the promo of buying 3 games (1,200 points [$15] x 3) and getting a rebate of 400 points ($5)… Major Nelson also reports that if you choose to buy all 5 games during the promotion period (1,200 points [$15] x 5), then you will get a 1,200 point rebate ($15) back making it a buy 4, get 1 free sort of promotion.
