PSN Down for Scheduled Maintenence

PlayStation Store not returning today.

The PlayStation Network will be down today until approximately 5 pm Pacific time. Relax, nothing bad has happened. Sony is conducting “scheduled maintenance”, during which time account management and registration will be shut down in addition to the network itself.

Actually, a bit of bad news did surface in conjunction with the maintenance announcement. The PlayStation Store will not return today, despite Sony’s earlier memo stating otherwise. Sony added that the target date for bringing the store back online was still “the end of this month”. As already mentioned, they told their strategic partners that today would be the day (but never stated so publicly) the store would return. We’ve already waited over a month for it, so what’s one more week?

Those looking to follow the maintenance progression closely, should keep an eye on Sony’s Twitter page.
