Listened to this last night and while the panel felt heavily PS3-biased, I can't say I completely disagree with the overall assessment.

I'm an Xbox 360 guy myself, but it's 100% because of personal preference and personal experience. Since the majority of my friends have a 360 and not a PS3, I'm more inclined to buy a multi-platform game on 360 because I have the option of playing multiplayer games with more of my friends on Xbox Live as opposed to on PS3. Even if its a single-player game, I enjoy cross-game party chatting with friends while I play my own game. And there's the factor of achievements. I know they're worthless points, but it's a fun metagame looking up your own and comparing how far you are in a game and what you've unlocked with your friends.

Also, with Xbox Live, your games and system update in seconds as opposed to the several minutes it can take to download and install an update on PS3. It may be a minor annoyance to some, but it irritates the hell out of me.

However, despite my personal preferences, I do agree that in today's marketplace the PS3 on paper is the better overall systems. Many exclusives that defined Xbox 360 in the past such as Bioshock, Oblivion and Mass Effect 2 have all made their way to PS3 and evened a lot of the 3rd party exclusive playing field. Looking at the exclusives nowadays, Xbox 360 looks pretty bare beyond Halo, Gears of War and Fable. If based on games alone, I'd say Playstation 3 takes the cake and blu-ray playability is the icing on top. However, when it comes to interface and networking, that's why Xbox 360 gets more of my money. As you said in the podcast, you determine which system you enjoy more by which is the first system you turn on when you get home. For me, it's Xbox 360 9 out of 10 times.

… The tenth time is usually because I just got a new PS3 exclusive.

The Versus series always tends to be a 2 on 1, that's just how it shakes out usually. Typically I'm on the short end which is why, at the end of the podcast, I said I was so surprised that PS3 came out on top. Going into it I knew Jarret was pro-360, but I had no idea of Mikey's preference.

Personal experience and preference will always be the biggest factor in something like this, as opposed to points on paper. We didn't include the Wii in this Versus because we felt it just flat-out lost in each category and it would be mean-spirited to dump on it that way. But in reality, the Wii has dominated this era of consoles in sales for factors outside of what we discussed.

The 360 had a similarly strong run in this era, despite it's hardware issues. That's why the debate is fun, I guess. It's a snapshot in time, but not any sort of definitive answer, because the answer is usually changing. Like we said in the podcast, if we had done that Versus 2 or 3 years ago, it'd be a very different outcome.

There is no blu ray in Xbox 360′s dojo! PS3 ftw!
