As previously hinted at via Twitter postings, a new Tony Hawk video game is being unveiled tonight at the Spike TV VGAs. The reality, according to statements Hawk himself has just made to Joystiq at the VGAs, is that the game isn’t that new at all. Levels from the first two games in the series will be plucked out and deposited into an high-def remake known as Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD.

The man most commonly associated with the sport of skateboarding went on to confirm that the classic maps “School” and “Downhill” will be included as part of the game. Without getting too specific, he also added that Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD will arrive in early 2012 on “digital platforms.”
