Diablo III to Release on May 15th

This has been a long time coming. Will it be everything we've hoped it to be?

It’s almost as if I shouldn’t really say the release date for the highly anticipated PC game, Diablo III, is here.  Something terrible could happen, like a delay or “act of God.”  Blizzard did announce today that the title will be out on May 15th of this year, but is it too good to be true?  Alright, let’s be optimistic here.  Diablo III will indeed be available on May 15th for most countries and June 7th for Latin American countries and Russia.  If you want to pre-order the game, Blizzard has also announced that their digital pre-order system is up — although if you are a GameStop customer you’ve probably had this pre-ordered since 2010, because that’s how they do things.

Blizzard has also issued this statement for fans to gobble up:  “After many years of hard work by our development team and months of beta testing by hundreds of thousands of dedicated players around the world, we’re now in the homestretch,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We look forward to putting the final polish on Diablo III over the next two months and delivering the ultimate action-RPG experience to gamers worldwide starting on May 15.”

The standard edition will be, as of now, $59.99 and will be available for PC and Mac.  There will also be a Collector’s Edition which will cost $99.99 and includes a behind-the-scenes Blu-Ray/DVD, the official soundtrack, an over two hundred page art book, and a 4GB USB Soulstone (fancy Diablo speak for flash drive) which will include a copy of Diablo II and Diablo II: Lord of Destruction.  The USB drive will have a skull base, and this Collector’s Edition also includes addition content for Diablo III, World of Warcraft, and Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty.
