There are a lot of developers trying to break into the free-to-play (F2P) arena these days. Emobi Games is hoping that their new MMO, 2112, will grab the attention of people looking to play a new galactic MMO. 2112 combines real time strategy with base defense gameplay, and is set in the future in the year 2112.  The story revolves around the discovery of a new energy source called “Herani,” but with this discovery comes war between the human race and two other alien races. Each player will pick between the three races in 2112.

Emobi is working on truly fleshing out the campaign and quest system to keep people coming back for more of this free-to-play MMO. The trailer above gives a little bit of an idea of what the game will look like, and a look at the different units we might be seeing. So far it looks promising, but to compete in the F2P market they are going to need to bring in the big guns. So far the trailer only indicates a fall release for this game, but we will see what happens to 2112 has we get closer to the fall.
