Jarret is Editor-in-Chief as well as one of the founding members of Mash Those Buttons. He's been playing games since before he could read and that's turned into a love of all things game related. His favorite genres include FPS, RTS, racing, and action-adventure platforming. He is currently spending way too much time playing Starcraft II followed by Team Fortress 2.

    I know there’s a part 2 coming, but…

How do you jump right from Wolfenstein to Counterstrike???  Only one mention of Doom at all!?!??  Wolfenstein is the grandfather of FPS’s, but Doom is the Daddy.  Wolfenstein moved to the neighborhood so everyone knew that FPS’s were around.   Doom kicked in your door and forced you into having a house party to welcome it to the neighborhood.   Doom INTRODUCED multi-player.  Over your DIAL-UP.  That shit sucked, but it paved the way.  You can’t just jump to counterstrike.

Even then, you reference Quake with Unreal, but there’s a progression from Wolf -> Doom -> Quake -> Unreal.  And then FPS’s explode.  If you were going to skip that, why even mention Wolfenstein?

I’m curious to see what you touch on in part 2.
