Let’s Get Critical: INSIDE

On this episode of Jarret and Mikey take a look at Play Dead’s new somber and suspenseful game: Inside. Play Dead, the Creators behind Limbo, are back with another game that is as dark and weird as its previous title. Jarret and Mikey try to talk out the good and the bad sides of Play Dead’s new game and if it really lives up to what Limbo did back in 2010. Inside is a very dark and dreary game full of death, sadness, and more death. There are ton of horrible ways to die in this game and lot of dark secrets hiding in the world of inside — most of them leading to your death. Jarret and Mikey talk about the mood and atmosphere, and how the visuals help set the tone.

The guy’s also talk about the sound design and how it effects the game. From the subtle tones, to the rise in music to escalate the situations, Play Dead music design is discussed to see if it truly helped or did it just get in the way. Jarret and Mikey take a deeper look at what the hell is actually going on in this strange world. They try and ask the big questions and come up with theories as to what Inside is all about. Who is the mermaid? What was up with that ending? What is the meaning of the secret ending? All these and more are talked and discussed. The guys take a deep look at the gameplay of Inside. Were the puzzles really all that hard or were they even interesting? Did they feel fair? The puzzles are definitely a big part of Inside and we talk about the whether or not Play Dead lives up to expectation on that aspect. All this and more in this episode of Let’s Get Critical.
