White PS3 Released In Japan

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has released the White PS3, both with two sets of hard drive capacities (320GB, 160GB).  The company will be releasing on a speculated date of July 29th, 2010.  The higher capacity for the hard drive is to allow for greater network and TV content on the PlayStation Network (PSN).  The company believes this will aid in the advancement of the 3D capabilities of the PS3.

Both the CECH-2500A LW and CECH-2500B will be in White, the prior reportedly being the 160GB HDD, and latter being the 320GB HDD.  Overall this update is well taken, but it does not seem they updated the networking capabilities of the PS3 as it still reads:

Communication Ethernet (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T) × 1
IEEE 802.11 b / g
Bluetooth ® 2.0 (EDR)

The release of this is great as it gives gamers another color for their PS3 and higher HDD capability for the 320GB one.  Unfortunately, it does not seem to include any new features.  This seems to be just a ploy to attract people to the PS3.

No announcement has been made as to the release of this in the U.S.
