XBox Live Deals of the Week [7-06-10]

Microsoft lines up four games this week at a discounted rate.  But is it worth it?

Mega Man 10 (400 Points)

Does this game really need a introduction?  No, it’s Mega Man.  Capcom stuck with the same formula that they had in Mega Man 9 to bring you another game that will make you curse your own mothers name for bringing you into this world.  I have had Mega Man 10 now for a while and love it.  If your a Mega Man fan and like the challenge, I’d say go for it…especially for only 400 points.  If your new to the series or just think it’s too hard, Capcom has something for you cowar….*eh hmm…folks too.  For the first time Mega Man will include a easy mode for you “easy goers”.

After Burner Climax (400 Points)

We did a short review based on the demo a few months back.  I replayed the demo and my feelings remain the same.  It’s still not a game for me, but the demo is free so why not give it a try anyway.  Who knows…you may like it.

Scrapmetal (800 Points)

I checked out the demo and the game is decent.  The single player was pretty bland but I see potential for lots of fun if you play multiplayer with friends.  In a nutshell, Scrapmetal is a powered up, top down racer.  There are several game modes.  Races, tracks where you have to survive for a specific time limit, tracks were you have to destroy all the other cars, and tracks were you need to protect a certain vehicle.  I had a little bit of fun playing, but not 800 points worth.

Death by Cube (400 Points)

Death by Cube…I have no idea what’s going on.  Basically you’re a robot, your on a platform, and your job is to destroy all the cubes…who are also trying to destroy you.  I really thought there might be some strategy to this game, I really wanted there to be.  However, it’s pretty much just a button masher.  You basically hold the right control stick in the direction in which you want to fire, and mash the left trigger to constantly dash around the level so the enemies can’t hit you.  Yeah, that’s pretty much it.  I have to admit, it was entertaining, but a bit shallow.  If you’re looking for some mind numbing fun you may want to check it out.
