Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale Coming Soon!

UPDATE: Check out our review HERE.

Most of those who play Japanese RPG normally see the shopkeepers in town stores as faceless entities.  Some of us probably have no clue what those vendors do to get us the hottest swords for our level or the best armor so we don’t die horrible, horrible deaths.  Recettear gives us a look at the plight of shopkeeper Recette Lemongrass on her five week journey to repay an unsurmountable debt.  The game is divided into two portions.  A shop portion where you manage the store and set the prices to make a good bargain in hopes of upgrading your store to carry more items and seek to pay off your debt faster.  The dungeon portion takes you on journeys with Recette to dungeons full of rare treasures that are tempting to nab in hopes of selling them to the highest bidding adventurer.  Hopefully that careless adventurer may be carrying a big wallet for a huge pay-out.

Recettear: An Item Shop’s Tale will hit Steam, Impulse, and Gamer’s Gate on September 10th.  Carpe Fulgur says they will bring the game to the English speaking gamers without DRM.  This game is being translated from Japanese by the folks at Carpe Fulgur as well.  I am personally looking forward to EasyGameStation’s work being translated and published very soon.  For now, the demo is on Steam and also available as a downloadable exe to boot.
