Sony is apparently hard at work on the most substantial update to be rolled out thus far for its online community service. The forthcoming Home revision, referred to as “Version 1.5”, will be available to PlayStation 3 owners at some point this spring. According to the publisher, v1.5 was designed with a singular focus on delivering high-quality games. We’ll have to wait a few more months to see whether or not they can can come through on that promise, but it is certainly an admirable (and obvious) goal for any gaming service.
Diverging from what previous changes to the service brought to the table, this update is supposedly chock full of tools that will empower developers with the ability to bring previously unseen types of games to Home. The technologies that will make this expansion popular include improved physics, enhancements to real-time multiplayer, and graphics and animations which appear more realistic. Teasing what we can expect in terms of tangible game play, Sony also announced that the title Sodium Two will release alongside Home’s update. The game focuses on multiplayer jet races which you can see in the video below.
There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.
