River City Ransom 2 Coming to Japanese WiiWare

Revisiting retro games/series that have been left untouched for years seems to be all the rage these days.  It is in that spirit that developer Miracle Kidz has announced a sequel to the 1989 NES classic River City Ransom.  Fans of the original game will be happy to hear that some of the original team members are working on the sequel over at Miracle Kidz.  The sequel to the side scrolling beat ’em up (known as Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari in Japan) will be hitting WiiWare sometime this summer.  A ported PC version will also see a later release in 2012.  Although no versions were announced for other regions, its localization outside of Japan seems likely owing to the cult classic status it holds today.  No other details were provided, but MTB will have more for you as it develops.
