Nintendo has been promising a major 3DS update would arrive at some point before this month’s end since prior to the handheld’s launch. Included in the update would be features such as a web browser, the eShop, and the ability to transfer content from a DSi over to a 3DS. In a statement released today, Nintendo has admitted that they will not be making their targeted time-frame for said update.
A new system update for the hand-held Nintendo 3DS system will be available in North America the evening of June 6 Pacific time. By downloading the free update via a wireless broadband Internet connection, Nintendo 3DS users can enjoy new features and enhancements, including an Internet browser and access to the Nintendo eShop, where users can browse and purchase downloadable content.
Consumers have come to expect elements similar to those included in the update as standard issue for modern gaming platforms, and many were dismayed that they didn’t come preloaded on launch units. Fortunately, the delay is quite short and 3DS owners will be enjoying the new content in just under a month.
Gamers in Japan and Europe will be receiving the update on June 7.
