Dark Souls Likely Releasing on October 11

The game's producer admits that the PSN outage has affected its development cycle.

Kei Horono, producer of From Software’s Dark Souls, informed CVG that Sony’s network woes have caused some headaches for the development team.   While we’ve extensively covered how the security breach has negatively affected Sony and its customers, this is the first public report of the attack hurting game development.

Specifically, Horono remarked that he “would be lying if I said the problems with PSN hadn’t caused us some problems”.  Despite the problem, the producer said that he still believes the studio will wrap production in time to push the game out this October.  Horono added that the team has maintained an open line of communication with Sony and that they “are aiming to meet a street date of October 11.”  Previously, the company line only positioned the action-RPG for a more ambiguous October launch.  This latest revelation would therefore appear to be an unintentional admission of Dark Souls‘ exact release date.
