Microsoft has spontaneously dropped a Halo: Reach demo onto XBL today. This most recent entry in the 360’s flagship franchise was released all the way back in September of last year, but never got a demo. Considering that it moved more than three million units in its first month and then went on to become the third best seller of 2010, there’s probably not too many Halo fans who haven’t bought the game yet. As someone who has currently sunk 10 days, 10 hours and 17 minutes into the game, I have one question for those scant few individuals: what are you waiting for?
The demo includes the ‘Long Night of Solace’ camapaign mission, ‘Powerhouse’ competitive multiplayer map — which, in my humble opinion, is one of the game’s finest — and the ‘Overlook’ firefight map. If you enjoy the demo, you’d be wise to act fast on buying the game. From now until May 30, downloading the full version of Reach will only set you back 40 USD, pounds or euros depending on your region.
If you’re a 360 owner who’s still not going to pick up Reach with that deal going on, I might be compelled to introduce your head to the gravity hammer. But since our imaginary legal team from space has advised against that, I’m just going to tell you to go play the demo.
