NCSoft Reports Decline in Profits

NCSoft reports a loss of profits for the first quarter.

NCSoft this past week reported on their quarter one financial statistics.  All I can say is it’s not very good.    Revenues dipped by 7% and profits dropped by 30%.  Currently the only games that are really drawing in revenue for them are Aion — which makes up roughly 44 percent of their revenue — and Lineage 1 and 2 — which make up close to the other half.  The company itself stated the reason for declines were small scale sales promotions for its two main games: Aion and Lineage.

Aion sales in the US declined a bit, but its sales in the Asian territories seem to be doing well.  The only thing I can imagine is that maybe American gamers are starting to get a bit bored of current MMOs?  Aion is scheduled to have its new patch 2.5 Empyrean Calling dropping soon, hopefully this well help boost sales.
