Sony Puts the Online Back in Sony Online Entertainment

Let the questing resume.

SOE has announced that online services are up and running again for almost all of its games. Because they are an MMO developer, their titles had been completely unplayable for some time now.  Just like PSN users, SOE gamers will be forced to reset their passwords before getting back into the thick of things.   SOE also noted that its web sites and forums have been kicked back into gear as well.

As MTB previously reported, the company is offering users a “Welcome Back” program to make up for the loss of service and personal data.  In-game cash, items, and forty-five days of free play time will be granted to subscribers.

SOE made note of how seriously they are taking security issues in the wake of the cyber attack.  They have implemented some new measures and these include: “updating and adding advanced security technologies, additional software monitoring, performing new penetration and vulnerability testing, and increased levels of encryption.”  All subscribers can enroll in one free year of identity-theft protection from Debix.
