Sony Unveils the “Welcome Back” Free Game Downloads

Come inside to read about the freebies that will be offered to North American, Latin American and European PS3 and PSP owners.

We’ve been hearing for some time now that PSP and PS3 owners would have some giveaways headed their way as loyalty rewards for sticking it out through the PSN outage. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment has made public which games Europeans, Latin Americans, and North Americans will be offered. On top of the 30 days of free PlayStation Plus usage (60 for current subscribers), users will also be given a weekend of free “On Us” movie rentals, as well as being able to choose a couple of free games. The date and list of movies for the rental weekend will be announced shortly. As for the games, North and Latin American PS3 and PSP owners can choose two downloads each from the following respective lists:

PlayStation 3:

  • Dead Nation
  • inFAMOUS
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Super Stardust HD
  • Wipeout HD + Fury

PlayStation Portable:

  • LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
  • ModNation Racers
  • Pursuit Force
  • Killzone Liberation

The games will be available for download soon and the offer will remain live for 30 days afterwards. Don’t worry, all downloads are permanent. PlayStation Home users can also look forward to 100 free virtual items with even more free content arriving down the road. Finally, Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscribers are getting 30 days worth of free usage for that service.

Those of you in Europe can expect basically the same package but should check here for a few specific changes. Most notably, you’ll be offered Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty in lieu of Super Stardust HD.
