THQ has officially announced that they will be publishing a FPS in 2013 from developer Turtle Rock Studios. It’s been a strange course for Turtle Rock Studios. Originally formed back in 2002, they eventually went on to develop the zombie co-op shooter Left 4 Dead. They were then acquired in full by Valve, who went on to help them complete the incredibly popular zombie title. After being cut free sometime around the game’s release, Turtle Rock was quiet for a bit before announcing they were ramping up staff hirings for their next game back in February.
And while we still don’t know what they are working on, their COO, Phil, Robb, says that “This project is the most ambitious thing we’ve ever attempted”. Sounds like we won’t be finding out what it is anytime soon though, as the title will not make an E3 appearance this year. The one thing we do know, is that a strong multiplayer is the focus of development. THQ’s Danny Bilson explained that the game “looks set to make a similar impact [to that of Left 4 Dead] in the multiplayer space.” Considering how excellent Left 4 Dead was, we’re sure there will be plenty of gamers eagerly awaiting the full unveiling of this new title.
