Breitling Reno Air Races: The Game (iOS)

It's everything you would expect from a free-to-play flight game.

Sometimes, just because a game is free.. does not mean you should go and play it anyway.  This is the case with Breitling Reno Air Races: The Game.  Cheesy 80s music hurts your ear drums as you try to make it through the tutorial without turning off your iOS device.  I especially disliked the completely 80s live-action cut scene, which includes stereotypical bad acting.  After existing the cut scene, you will then be led to a desk menu set up.  You can see a leader board, play online, and “quick race“.

The first thing you will logically do is play the tutorial, which is a big mistake because it is so slow moving.  However, there is not any other way to find out what the unmarked buttons on the screen mean.  The direction controls are obvious with regards to iOS devices, in that they involve tilt.  There is an acceleration and break button on screen, but I found them to be too high to reach comfortably.  The tilt controls do not actually work that well, and I found the turning tilt controls to be delayed slightly.  The graphics of this game are what you would expect for a free to play iOS game, shoddy and rough on the eyes.  The 80’s hair band metal sound track, featuring plenty of squealing guitar solos, will make you want to mute the game.  If you are terribly curious, the game is free so there is no harm done if you don’t like it.
