Activision will be really showing off at the soon to start E3 floor show today. The biggest thing they have to offer right now is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The game has you playing the role of a special forces member who works with Delta operators to try and stop the exploits of a terrorist around the globe. This game is highly anticipated and has reportedly already surpassed what Call of Duty: Black Ops did in the way of pre-orders.
Hand in hand with Modern Warfare 3 is Activision’s Call of Duty Elite, which is a multiplayer experience designed to integrate with MW3. The beta for this title is expected to start on July 14th 2011. This beta is invitation only and it is only available to players of Call of Duty: Black Ops. The service itself sound pretty exciting, as there will be a wealth of customization options with regards to weapons, perks, and attachments. There will be an extensive player data system to easily track yourself and other players’ progress. The new addition of groups will allow you to play with people that you want to play with based on affiliation or likes.
Another title that will be displayed will be the interesting sounding Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure which will use figures that can be integrated with many different devices including consoles. Using the “Portal of Power”, gamers can carry their achievements and level-ups across devices where ever they go. The starter pack for the game will include 3 figures, the game, and the “Portal of Power”. Although you can play with just that, there will be over 30 characters that will be usable within the game.
Prototype 2 will also be shown as well, featuring a new player character. You will play Sergeant James Helleer and will be blood bathing your way through post-viral New York City. With your ultimate goal being to kill Alex Mercer, you must gather a large army of biological weapons and increased abilities. Hopefully this sequel will not fall into the shadow of InFAMOUS 2 like it’s predecessor did when they both came out at about the same time. It still looks like a bloody good time.
Next up is Spider-Man: Edge of Time, which has you playing two different versions of the iconic character. These two are Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099, and they both must work together to prevent a disaster and the death of Amazing Spider-Man. The game features a “picture in picture” mechanic that has the effects of one of the web-slingers directly effecting the other. It will involve some clever thinking to make it through.
The next thing on the list of exhibits is another super-hero game, X-Men Destiny. Controlling one of three new mutants, this game will lead you in the slow struggle between saving the world or destroying in it. With this being your mission, you will have a chance to fight with or against your fellow X-Men while upgrading your abilities. You will be able to mix and match abilities from some of your favorite X-Men characters in order to make yourself stronger than ever.
Fans of Transformers will be roped into playing Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which will act as a prologue to the upcoming movie. Let’s hope not playing it will leave non-gamers in the dark when they see the movie. The game features a new mechanic called “Stealth Force” which converts your Transformer into a third mode that falls between the vehicle and robot states. Players will be able to play a range of their favorite Transformers characters in a wide variety of locations including the jungle and military facilities.
Last, and also from what it sounds like least, there’s Wappy Dog. It is something like a cross between Nintendogs and a “real” toy dog. The toy dog reacts with the game, which will be available on DS. In both the real world and the virtual world you will be able to play with and raise your pet with mini games.
