E3: Professor Layton and the Last Specter Coming Stateside Fall 2011

We bet the ghost loves matchstick puzzles.

It looks like Nintendo of America is quickly closing the gap between total Professor Layton games released and those available in the Western world.  This Fall, puzzle savvy gamers can look forward to the fourth title in the Layton series, Professor Layton and the Last Specter.  Previously named as Professor Layton and the Specter’s Flute in Japan, Last Specter is actually a prequel to the series as well as the last Layton title developed for the Nintendo DS.  Should Nintendo continue to release the Professor Layton series after this installment, we can look forward to the potential release of Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle for the 3DS in America.  Fingers crossed, people!

Although the announcement of Last Specter wasn’t made during the Nintendo press conference, Nintendo of America has released a trailer for the upcoming Professor Layton game.  Spoilers: there’s a sliding tile puzzle.
