E3: Wii U Likely to Cost Somewhere North of $250

While the specific price is still a mystery, we've got some very generalized info from Satoru Iwata.

Mum was the word on Wii U pricing during Nintendo’s E3 2011 press conference. The controller itself gives off a strong impression that it will be rather pricey, and a system more powerful than the current consoles can’t be cheap. When speaking with the Japanese newspaper Nikkei, Nintendo Company Ltd President Satoru Iwata commented that the publisher is “unlikely to sell the new console for the same price” that the Wii started at. Recall that prior to the price drops, the platform launched at $249.99 in North America.

Everyone already assumed that the Wii U would be more pricey than its predecessor, but now we have fairly solid confirmation of that assumption. What do you think Nintendo should charge for their next-gen system? For that matter, what do you think they could charge for it? Share your pricing thoughts in the comments section below.
