Hellgate Open Beta to Begin June 30th

Holy zombie in a sandstorm!

Hellgate

Free-to-play is suddenly the most popular thing since Angry Birds.  Another F2P game, Hellgate, will be hosting an open beta for North America and Europe.  The beta will feature two new game modes.  “Duel Arena” is basically a player versus player mode, taking place in four different areas.  The object of this mode is to kill other players, death-match style.  “Recover Crystals” near each base will…recover…health, magic and shields.  Winning teams receive PvP points (another very original name), which will allow players to purchase accessories and pets.  The top 10 players each week will also be rewarded in some way, shape, or form.

That’s not all, though.  There will also be a “Cow Room” mode.  Oddly enough, there are no cows in this game; there are zombies, though.  I know what you’re thinking: “that’s kind of boring, why is it always zombies?”.  Well, you have to beat them all in a sandstorm.  What does it all mean? We don’t know either.  You do not actually start out in the cow room — you have to obtain access to it by slaying the zombies and their boss.  Then, a secret recipe that you make will let you in.  It sounds crazy, but succeeding will give you access to a rare item drop.

There will also be four special events aimed at expanding the Hellgate community.  The “Guild Reservoir” will encourage teamwork as players (up to 30 per team) collaborate to earn special rewards.  The month long “Daily Supplies” will scatter special items around Greenwich headquarters, where players will have a chance to pick up 4 per day.  “To Level in Hell” will be a race to see who can reach level 20 the fastest, and 10 of those entries will win 3,000 in-game Tcoins each.  Last but not least, is “Level and Be Rewarded”, which will reward players that reach level 5 — and each 5th level after that — with a prize.  You can sign up for the beta here.
