Last Friday, MTB brought you the news that Heroes of Ruin from developer n-Space was in development for the 3DS. Our suspicions that it was some sort of four-player action-RPG were eventually proven to be accurate; and now, we have official word on the project from publisher Square Enix. The title is heavily focused on drop-in/drop-out co-op over Nintendo’s network, but it also features its own network that Square is calling the “Trader’s Network”.
Players will be encouraged to utilize this functionality to swap rare item pick-ups that they come across in their travels. Further online elements include daily challenges and the chance to pair up with unique team members. This is heavy stuff for a game on a Nintendo platform, which hopefully will pave the way for similar experiences in other titles. As far as gameplay goes, Square says that you will “explore and fight through wild, varied and dynamic environments, discovering new layouts and routes each time [you] play.” Players will battle through various MOB and will be constantly “collecting loot, weapons and armor to empower them on their quest”.
Heroes of Ruin will be playable at Square’s E3 booth next week.
