Are you a fan of Magic: The Gathering? Are you sick of carrying all your cards around? Or just wish you could play anytime, anywhere? Then you might want to check out Kard Combat, Hothead Games’ single and multiplayer strategy card game (currently only available in the Canadian App store). They have recently announced that, soon, this app will be available worldwide.
Now, understand that while this isn’t a Magic: The Gathering game, per say, it was directly inspired by the popular card game. One of the game’s co-designers, Richard Garfield said that one of the reasons they created the app was because, “For years I’ve wanted to create Magic-like experiences for people who play video games. Kard Combat on iPhone and iPad does this and is simple enough for anyone to pick up and play, but with plenty of depth for the hardcore player.”
The story behind the game is that the “Kard” is an elite order of magi that use their powers to rule over the Forbidden Kingdom from the Black Tower. However, every one thousand years they fight for control of the tower in a battle of cards and magic. Players will be able to play for free in the online multiplayer mode, or work on their skills in single duel mode, and they’ll have access to four different mages — each with their own special abilities.
