The LEGO Group’s MMO Lego Universe will be venturing in the “free to play” business model sometime this year. It sounds like an expanded demo honestly, but it will give interested parties a chance to try the game for as long as they want before they buy the game. No time limit allows those who do not want to commit to a subscription a way to play, but there are obvious restrictions to how much of the game you are allowed access to.
Non-subscription members only have access to 2 of the over 15 adventure zones, as well as only 1 of the over 5 property zones. These property zones allow you to build your own Lego property and design it as you like. Also, expansions will only be available to paying customers. Lego Universe will also be only available via digital download soon, so those pesky discs will no longer get in the way. The subscription is $10 a month if you do decide you like the game.
