Master Chief Will be a Changed Cyborg in Halo 4

Did all that demon talk from the Covie finally make John-117 go over the edge?

If you’re any kind of Halo fan, then you’ve probably watched Halo 4’s E3 trailer a few dozen times, and made note of the differences in his MJOLNIR armor from his last outing. But it won’t just be the missing codpiece that differentiates the Chief from the stoic UNSC space marine he was in Halo 3. Some details were coaxed out of the MS camp in an E3 interview in regards to this new take on John-117. “There’s some story behind his new look,” explained studio boss Frank O’Connor during the interview. “There are specific reasons why he looks the way he does and why some of his behaviours have changed. We’ll see in good time.”

As his half of a vessel (fans will remember that it was torn asunder by the explosion of the Ark at the end of Halo 3) drifts aimlessly through space, Chief eventually emerges from his induced hibernation and comes across a mysterious planet. This occurs some unknown number of years after Chief’s last battle. “A lot of things have changed in that intervening period,” O’Connor remarked. Don’t worry that the game will drift too far away from what made the series so much fun, though. MS Corporate VP, Phil Spencer, says that the sequel “will live up to what fans fell in love with”.
