As the upcoming action-RPG Dark Souls nears its October 4th release date, fans of 2009’s Demon’s Souls are likely dusting off their old copies and trying to get those final trophies.  While all that energy and time sunk into Demon’s Souls may eventually pay off with a shiny 100% completion rank, NamcoBandai has a more immediate outlet for your gaming passion.  Fans awaiting Dark Souls can currently enter into a contest to get their own custom shield designs into the final release this fall.

Facebook users who become fans of the official Dark Souls page on the popular social networking site will be able to download shield templates and submit up to three pieces into the contest.  After the July 13th deadline, page fans will vote on the submissions until July 20th, with the most popular designs being sent to the developer to be decided upon. The final ten contestants will each receive copies of Dark Souls signed by the game’s director, while the winning three shield designs will be included in the game and their creators listed in the credits.
