Spelunky for XBLA Debut Trailer Hits the Web

Spelunky's XBLA remake is looking damn good.

There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.

Some of you may be familiar with Spelunky, the excellent indie game from Derek Yu.  For those of you not in the know, Spelunky is a Roguelike dungeon crawler which puts the player through its paces in a series of randomly generated levels.  As the game progresses, you’ll play the part of a would-be treasure hunter as you find gold and gems, rescue damsels, and escape deadly traps.  It’s an awesome game to be sure and one of my personal favorites.

An Xbox Live Arcade port of Spelunky has been in the works for some time, but developer Moussmouth has finally released an official trailer for it today.  Seen above, the trailer shows off the revamped graphics, brand new soundtrack, and multiplayer for the indie darling.  If the trailer is any indication, it’s going to be a really fantastic version of an already great game.

There is no release date for the XBLA port yet, but the original game is free to play and can be downloaded here.  Be sure to check it out, as it is certainly worth your time.  You can thank me later.
