Transmission T²: Real Life Mario Kart

"Red shells mean business."

Mario Kart is a pastime many of us have enjoyed on a number of consoles. Power sliding around turns, hitting boosts, firing off red shells, lightning bolts, blue shells, and triggering star power are things that cement the experience. We’ve all been right on the edge of victory, only to have it stolen away at the finish line by a turtle shell or an opponents well-timed boost. We’ve also been on the other end and done victory dances in front of our friends when we caused them to lose, even if we didn’t come in 1st ourselves. It’s a cathartic experience.

But what would it be like to play Mario Kart in real life? This short video from freddiew explores a little of the possibility. There’s some really solid visual effects and a nice little dose of humor injected too (wait till you see the stand-in for Lakitu!). Enjoy this late-night Transmission.

There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.
