Halo: CE Anniversary’s Soundtrack Will be Re-Orchestrated

The score from Martin O’Donnell and Michael Salvatori will, amazingly, sound better than ever.

Even if you’re not a Halo fan, you’re almost surely familiar with it’s classic singing monks theme. Love or hate the series, you can’t deny that it has been brilliantly scored. With that in mind, Microsoft has green-lit Pyramind Studios’ project to re-orchestrate and reproduce every single track in this November’s Xbox 360 remake of Combat Evolved.

The project is taking place at George Lucas’ legendary Skywalker Ranch, with the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra handling the recording. Chanticleer, a grammy award-winning men’s vocal group, will serve as those crazy, chanting space monks. “Our team approached every aspect of the music with an immense amount of skill and care, keeping the core Halo sound while updating the production to today’s highest standards,” said Pyramind’s Audio Director, Paul Libson.

The team stresses that this is not a remastering, but a full-blown rerecording. That should go a long way in putting the two Halo fans who weren’t already planning on getting the game over the edge.
