Bethesda Forum Database Hacked

Return of the hack.

Bethesda Softworks has reported that their forums database was hacked yesterday, August 12th. Bethesda has reset all forum passwords “as a precaution, in the event that any encrypted forum user passwords were compromised.” Therefore, old passwords will not work when users next attempt to log in and so they will need to reset them. Simply click the button indicating that you have forgotten your password and follow the prompts in order to setup your new password.

“We recommend you do not use your old password or a password you have used for other sites. Further, if your old forum password was used for any other online purposes, we recommend changing the password on those accounts as well,” reads the advice from Bethesda’s Community Manager on the developer’s forums. Nothing is known at this time in regards to who was responsible or what the extent of the hacking was.
