Three New Halo Anniversary Maps Announced

Two competitive maps and one Firefight map added to the remake.

Three new maps for the upcoming Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary were announced at yesterday’s Halo Fest event. Installation 04 is a Firefight map set at the Forerunner spire from Combat Evolved’s ‘Halo’ campaign mission. The map will be full of Forerunner structures that are said to offer up some great defensive positions when trying to hold off the Covenant.

On the competitive multiplayer side, the previously PC-only map from Halo: Combat Evolved, Timberland, is being thrown into the mix. Timberland is a hilly, pine tree-covered valley full of rivers. It is designed for 8 – 16 player combat. The image above is a shot of the original version of the map – the new one will obviously look far better.

Finally, the original game’s Prisoner will make a return as a 2 – 8 player map. This multiple-tiered building is full of bridges, ramps and cramped corridors that are designed to encourage close quarters combat. It is said to have been “elaborately recreated” for Halo: Anniversary.
