Twisted Metal Peels out of 2011 and into 2012

Eat Sleep Play's car combat title has been delayed. It's not all bad news though: you can play the game yourself at PAX Prime and Gamescom.

Twisted Metal is all set to make its glorious return on October 4th of this year, except that it’s not. David Jaffe made the announcement yesterday on the PlayStation Blog that the team at Eat Sleep Play will not be able to achieve the benchmark they have set for themselves until next year. “We’re not shipping Twisted Metal October 4th, 2011. We’re going to miss our date. We’re going to be late,” writes Jaffe. The same story from the studio head popped up over on the Euro PlayStation Blog confirming that this is a worldwide delay.

After admitting that the news does indeed suck, he goes on to promise that it’s all in the name of delivering the best product possible. We won’t know until it releases if that’s true or not; however, gamers can get a peak at how far along the game is by attending either Gamescom or PAX Prime (8/17 – 21 and 8/26 – 28, respectively) and swinging by the Eat Sleep Play booth. Twisted Metal will be playable at both cons and a new trailer centering around Dollface will be shown. What’s more, the playable segment will be set in a new level called “Thrills & Spills Amusement Park.”
