When I heard that Kaos Studios was shut down I knew there was no way THQ was going to let the Homefront IP slip away. I thought it would make its way up to THQ Montreal; home of former Assassin’s Creed creative director, Patrice Désilets. This gave me a bit of hope regarding the series, since I felt the story was a bit lackluster. One thing I didn’t expect was to hear that Crytek would be picking up development of the series for THQ.
In a press release it’s been confirmed that Crytek will be developing a sequel to Homefront in collaboration with THQ. According to Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli, Crytek has been granted a reassuring amount of creative freedom and aims to bring the Homefront world to life. Lets hope that life includes better story, better character development, and longer game play. Don’t expect to see any trailers anytime soon though. The Homefront sequel is scheduled to launch on PC and consoles sometime between April 2013 and March 2014.
