On Robot Chicken, Ted Turner dressed up as Captain Planet and warned people to, “Protect the environment, or I’ll f’ing kill you!” He also screamed the hero’s name a lot and kicked people in the balls.
Now we get a portrayal of Captain Planet — from Academy Award nominated and Golden Globe winning Don Cheadle — that is thrilling, nuanced, and batshit insane. Ted Turner as Captain Planet was crazy in his own way, but Don Cheadle’s Captain Planet is deranged. You don’t get a warning from him, you get turned into a goddamned tree.
