This little piece is going to be a lot less angry than my other post about DS systems, but it still has a modest amount of rage.
The DSi XL enjoyed brief success as the awkward step brother of the DSi, but it was quickly overshadowed by the magical leprechaun that is the 3DS. Most gamers forgot it existed, but Nintendo sure hasn’t. The Big N is giving the handheld two new colors and offering them up in bundle packs. These bundles are a cheap but effective way to go the easy route when shopping for the holidays, which is probably why Nintendo has one almost every year. Last year we got the ruby red DSi XL that came with a copy ofMario Kart DS. It was special because of the little circles near the camera lens that had Mario characters in them.
This year’s bundle is less impressive, with an outdated system (3DS says hi) and outdated software. The game included is Mario vs Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem, and it is old. In addition, there are also two mini Brain Age games packed in with it.
Unfortunately for kids, this system comes with a game. Why is that unfortunate? Because it makes it a bargain for parents, that’s why. Unfortunately for parents, kids will probably not even open the box (which is good). These bundles will retail for $169.99.
