Shin Megami Tensei’s Persona series has a modest cult following here in North America, but is a lot bigger in Japan. The last two games in the series have really blown up there. Persona 3 has its own spin-off social game, while Persona 4 has its own anime series. Persona 3 Social was pretty popular in Japan, garnering 500k members in just a few months; it is a game in which you pick a player and can battle shadows with friends.
Well, North America is about to get a lot cooler when Index Corporation makes a Persona 4 inspired smart phone game. It will have similar concepts to the original one, and is dubbed (at least for now) Persona 4 Social. Now if only we could have an anime too.
