The developer Cyanide had already released a game based on the popular HBO series A Game of Thrones (and its less popular book series, A Song of Ice and Fire) back in September, as we reported. It was titled A Game of Thrones: Genesis, and was a real time strategy game that allowed you to use either deception or battle skills to conquer your rivals.
Newly announced yesterday is yet another game for this series, with an action role playing game style instead. This game will just be titled Game of Thrones, and will release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. This reported 30 hour game will take place in the land of Westeros which presumably still has all of the same problems that the books, television series, and other game has. Everyone wants the damned throne!
Players will be able to interact with characters in the series both major and minor as well as the respective environments. This will definitely not be a linear, on rails, adventure. You will portray one of two desperate individuals, both former soldiers in Robert’s Rebellion. This game is set to release in early 2012 for the aforementioned systems.
