Magicka Gets a Free Update Today

Magical living made all the easier through science.

There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.

With the upcoming The Stars are Left DLC expansion (new trailer seen above), developer Arrowhead Studios are trying to get people noticing Magicka once again. A pretty substantial patch was released today for Magicka which, in addition to being free for everyone, addresses a number of technical issues and game mechanic tweaks. The details are as follows:

  • Fairy familiar added, revives characters after death occurs in solo campaign
  • Checkpoints now save progress even if game is quit  (Oh my god finally! – Ed.)
  • Chapter select added to replay previously played chapters
  • Several changes to server browsing, technical performance, and bug fixes

The Stars Are Left expansion will be out in the near future, but all of these changes will be taking place immediately. If you haven’t rounded up a posse of friends to go play Magicka before, we highly recommend doing so.
