We Could See A Link to the Past on 3DS (But Probably Won’t)

If we all hope enough, could we make this wish come true?

Leave it to Miyamoto to prey upon the hopes and dreams of us SNES-era gamers. In a recent interview with Skyward Sword producer Eiji Aounuma, Gamesradar pried into future plans for the beloved Legend of Zelda franchise.

While there was no concrete information given regarding future Zelda projects, Aounuma was quoted as saying that Miyamoto has been talking about returning to the 2D Zelda games of yore and giving them the 3DS treatment. As Miyamoto has a habit of saying crazy things, this bit of news is likely brainstorming at best.

Still, just the idea of having a high-quality re-release of A Link to the Past is more excitement than we can bear. But let’s not hold our breath just yet.
