Alan Wake Coming to PC in Early 2012 [Updated]

Remedy makes official the story that forum goers dug up earlier.

Update: Remedy Entertainment has issued an official release that sort of confirms the rumor below that Alan Wake is getting a PC release. I say sort of because PC gamers were likely hoping to get the new game in the series, American Nightmare; instead, they’ll be getting the original 360 exclusive. The developer has confirmed that the game will arrive on the PC early part of next year, around the same time that American Nightmare is releasing on XBLA. Furthermore, the PC version will come complete with the DLC known as The Signal and the Writer.

Original Story: If the findings of internet forum users are accurate (And when are they not?) then PC gamers are going to be able to enjoy Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. The downloadable title that Remedy says is not a full sequel to the original game has only been officially announced for XBLA. Fans are citing previous registry listings accurately betraying publishers’ plans to release such games on the distribution service as Sonic Generations.

Throwing more fuel on the fire is a recent statement Remedy’s Aki Järvilehto made to a Finnish site. “We have received feedback from a lot of PC gamers, and I have to admit that yes, we somehow ignored that,” Järvilehto said. “Let’s see if in the near future we could have some positive news to tell you about dating!”

This one’s going in the rumor column for now, but there’s a strong possibility that it will pan out. Recall that just yesterday a Steam registry listing tipped gamers off to the existence of the latest Humble Indie Bundle. The boys over at Humble Bundle, Inc. were then forced to make an official announcement in the wake of the fervor.
