Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Trailer Leaks [Updated]

Raiden's breakout title, apparently being developed by Platinum Games, has a new name and trailer.

Sometimes you just have to take vengeance on someone. Other times, only revenge will do. But when you absolutely, positively have to blow away everyone standing in your path, only a mash-up of the two synonyms will do. What I’m trying to say, is that Konami has renamed Metal Gear Solid Rising to Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

The news wasn’t supposed to break until the Spike TV Video Game Awards (VGAs) tonight at 8pm, but users on NeoGAF were able to get their hands on a leaked trailer. There’s no guarantee that that link will still be valid when you click on it, because the powers that be are doing their darnedest to get this thing off the net as quickly as possible. We’re unable to simply embed the video here for you, because Viacom is sweeping through YouTube and plugging leaks left and right.

Revengeance’s VGA trailer opens with plenty of talk about mercenaries and special armor that allows soldiers to slice away wildly at their foes with surgical precision as we’ve seen in previous footage of the title. There’s more than two minutes of awesome footage featuring Raiden and nameless others chopping up everything in sight. Also revealed in the video is the developer that’s responsible for the slice-a-thon: Platinum Games.

Update: Looks like the leaked trailer link is dead, but now the trailer is live online. Check it out below:

There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.
