Q.U.B.E. Pays Off Indie Fund Investment In 4 Days; Beholds The Power of Steam.

Toxic Games celebrates a huge success, but they're not done yet.

Q.U.B.E.

Toxic Games’ Q.U.B.E. was released on January 6th on Steam.  Within four days Q.U.B.E. sold over 12,000 copies, allowing Toxic Games to pay back the $90,000 investment provided by Indie Fund.  For those who aren’t familiar with Indie Fund, it is a funding source created by a group of indie developers to help other indie developers get their games out while at the same time staying financially independent.  Q.U.B.E is the first game to be released with the help of Indie Fund, and with them paying back their investment in only four days, I would call this a success.

We see more and more developers going indie for various reasons; most notably, for the creative freedom they may not receive by using the more traditional publisher funding model.  Hopefully the success Q.U.B.E. has seen will encourage other developers who may concerned about making the jump to indie.  Indie Fund doesn’t appear done with Q.U.B.E.  According to GamesIndustry.biz, Toxic Games’ and Indie Fund looking in talks to bring Q.U.B.E. beyond PC and are “feeling pretty hopeful.”

There are a few other titles in development using investments from Indie Fund.  We will definitely be keeping an eye out to see if they receive the same success as Q.U.B.E.
