Alan Wake’s American Nightmare Second Dev Diary

Personally, I like to call it Alan Payne.

There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.

In this dev diary Remedy discusses the difference in tone and gameplay from what we saw in the original Alan Wake.  While the original Alan Wake was inspired more by Stephen King, American Nightmare draws influence from supernatural, urban legend, and sci-fi B movies.  They also reveal that the setting of American Nightmare is that of a Night Springs episode written by Alan himself.  This also would explain why many thought the game was called Alan Wake: Night Springs before it was actually released.

It’s clear from the gameplay segments that American Nightmare definitely has faster paced, more intense combat; something that definitely wasn’t the case in the original.  I’m glad that they established that this is meant to be a standalone adventure, and not necessarily the direction they are taking the entire series.  Not that there’s anything wrong with what I saw, but I enjoyed the psychological thriller aspect of Alan Wake.

Just like in the last video, there is some weird stuff going on.  Can you find it?  I found at least two things that didn’t belong.
