There used to be an embeded media player here, but it doesn't work anymore. We blame the Tumbeasts.
Only a few weeks away from its official release, Wargame: European Escalation is all set to unleash some good old-fashioned conflict into strategy gamer hands. Developed by the team that brought you 2010’s R.U.S.E. (reviewed by yours truly), the new strategy title from Eugen Systems is promised to be jam-packed with enough options to overwhelm even the most cynical RTS fan. As the thickly accented narrator (who ends sentence like Christopher Walken) can tell you in the above trailer, online connectivity is a key selling point to Wargame and something that will hopefully set it apart from other games currently on the market.
While 2010’s R.U.S.E. was a mechanically competent but ultimately stale experience, the developer is emphasizing the size and scope of the online arena this time around. Whether a bustling multiplayer community can keep things exciting is still anyone’s gamble, but it certainly hasn’t hurt games like League of Legends and Starcraft II. As of right now there is no demo available for Wargame, but those who preorder the game on Steam will get into a brief beta leading up to its final release on February 23.
