Originally, PAX East’s contract with the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) was going to expire after this year’s April show. However the two organizations came together with a 13-year agreement. Which means PAX East will be in Boston until 2023; at the very least.
Since the first Expo two years ago, the event has been bringing in thousands of attendees as well as over $520 million for hotels and other businesses; and this year they hope to get 75,000 attendees. In addition to extending the contract PAX East will be contributing $25,000 each year to Beck College’s Massachusetts Digital Games Institute. That, in my opinion, will only solidify another 13 year contract in the future as this will only help further fuel the gaming community in the Boston area.
