Starting tonight at 10:30pm EST and running through until 10:30pm on March 8, a group of gamers from all over the globe, myself included, will be playing an array of games in order to raise money for Special Effect. For those who don’t know, they’re a group that works to make games more accessible to those with disabilities, providing special equipment like complex controllers or eye-tracking technology. We love us some video games here at Mash Those Buttons, and feel that anyone who’s making it possible for more people to love them deserves our support.
We’re not alone in that feeling, as many of the devs of the games that we’ll be playing have sent in messages of support. Freakzone Games (AVGN Adventures), Crazy Viking Studios (Volgarr the Viking), Harebrained Schemes (Shadowrun Returns), StarQuail Games (Tiny Barbarian), TaleWorlds Entertainment (Mount & Blade), Asteroid Base (Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime), and others have all spread the word, while Ronimo Games, makers of Awesomenauts, and Adhesive Games, creators of Hawken, have provided us with some keys for the game to give away during the stream.
There’s really no telling what you’ll see, as each streamer has a two hour window to play games and the tastes of each player have dictated what they’re playing. Some of us are even trying games out for the first time, so that should be interesting. Also, I’ll be playing Angry Video Gamer Nerd Adventures live (8:30am EST), so you’ll definitely be getting some nice strings of rage there.You may even learn some cuss words you’ve never heard of before once I hit the later levels of that game.
